We would have imagined that being in the enviable position of watching lots and lots of horror movies is a gift and whilst it is pretty amazing, it’s actually a lot harder than it sounds. So far, our little horror film festival has had so many submissions of new horror features and shorts for this year’s Dead And SudBuried ReBorn in October that the prospect of whittling them all down to just 6 features and 20-ish shorts is no easy prospect. If it’s not the fact that the movies are pretty great, it’s the fact that they need to fit in with the rest of the schedule and the tastes of our ‘regular’ attendees plus the potential new ones. If that’s not hard enough, the filmmakers themselves, the directors/producers are so damn nice, tweeting/sharing and generally just being lovely enthusiastic people, that the idea we might have to tell them come the end of July that we can’t screen their precious baby is very daunting. Throw in that it’s only February and that means there’s another 5 whole months of submissions to go!

It’s a tough job, but somebody has to do it and fortunately with the hard choices comes the pleasure of watching some really great movies. Filling two days of quality horror seemed like it might be a challenge at first but now the challenge is selecting the right movies to fill a limited time. We’re getting some amazing submissions on all fronts so thank you and keep them coming – we're absolutely loving it!
